May Drive: Tour of Cheatham, Dickson & Stewart Counties & Lunch in Dover, TN

May 18 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Join us for another scenic drive through the backwoods of middle Tennessee to arrive in Dover, TN.

Tour the historical Fort Donelson National Cemetery, the Dover Hotel where Gen. Buckner surrendered to General Grant to end the siege, and visit the National Battlefield that overlooks the Cumberland River. There will be a restroom stop along the drive.

Lots of history up there and the view from Fort Donelson of the Cumberland River is not to be missed. We saw a pair of bald eagles last trip so don’t miss out.

Options for lunch include the Dover Grille, where we will stop first. If it fills up, you are welcome to continue driving south (to the left) on Donelson Pkwy to Mama Mea’s just a short distance and eat there, or you can pack a picnic lunch and continue down Donelson Pkwy until you come to Fort Donelson and drive back to the picnic area.

After lunch, we will drive to Fort Donelson and in the rear turn left to park in the circle visitor area and hopefully take a group photo overlooking the Cumberland River.

A map of area attractions will be emailed to attendees along with our route instructions. You can visit them on your own after touring the visitor parking area.

Make your reservations starting May 1 by sending an email to drives.mskpca@gmail.com.

Tour starts from McKay’s Books, 636 Old Hickory Blvd, Nashville so arrive by 9am for safety briefing and directions with departure at 9:15 and 9:30am.

Park in the far back away from their building.

Reservations can be made starting May 1st by sending that email to Mike Moody at drives.mskpca@gmail.com.

First time tour attendees can make reservations starting one week before May 1.
